Default Bought the wife an 06 400 4x4 auto

Well fathersday is coming up and the wife got the present. We just bought her a new Arctic Cat 400 4X4 auto. She wanted the red one and already fitted it with rack bags and hand guards. We are planning a trip this weekend over Wheelers Pass in Pahrump NV if anyone wants to come out and join us for a little get together and picnic.

Congrats on the new ride!! Its a perfect ride for a woman who doesnt want alot of power. (The 400s are a little under powered) But it is a great trail machine.

Underpower????? How? Mine has gone everywhere any of the bigger engined machines have and the only thing is won't do is run faster than about 50 mph, which is just not that important to sane people and besides who cares to run 50+ mph on tires with 5 psi in them.

Not unless you are into racing or mud bogging, which the majority of riders aren't. Are you aware that the 400 is Arctic Cats best selling model? I believe there is a reason for this and speed has nothing to do with it..

Can I ask you where you purchased the Quad for your wife? Did you buy it in Vegas? If so, What dealership? I live near Vegas and I am planning on buying next week. Thanks!

I bought it from Bass Pro Shop, they seem to have the best deals in town. We ended up getting it for 5818 out the door. (we got the 300 dollars in accesories taken off the price) It came with a 2 year warrenty. We were very happy with the service we recieved from them but then again everything is easy when you pay cash. LOL

Ok, now I pissed. We took it out for the first time on Sunday to do a little trail riding. We got 5 miles from the truck when it wouldn't even make it up a small hill. We put it in 4 whell drive and it barely made it up. The belt screeched and smoked a little bit. We let it cool down a little and I decded to have a look at the belt. I pulled the cover off out on the trail and a bunch of oil poured out from the belt side cover. Well we were done for the day and I had to tow the quad back to the truck. I loaded it up and took it home. I called the place I got it because it came with a 2 year warrenty. They said bring it in and they will fix it as soon as they can. It sounds like the crank seal was bad from the start. Has anyone have this happen to them? Thanks for your help.

Sorry about your experience. My dads buddy has a 400, brand new, and the 4x4 went out right away. I think the 400 is a great machine, but they better do something about the problems they have been having. I wonder if its AC, or Suzuki mistake?

Well, I don't know about others, but my 2005 400 manual has 1600 miles and the only real problem was a loose bolt in the Rev/Hi/Low shift linkage. Other than that oil changes and a clutch adjust. I don't baby it (it's been upside down twice) and I run with a lot of bigger engines. I ride with 4 other Cats regularly, a 650, a 500 and two 2004 400s and no one has had any problems except the 650 belt light crap.
