Arctic Cat’s new off-road vehicle features a 700 cc twin-cylinder diesel engine with continuously-variable transmission, fully independent suspension, superior pulling capacity, and great fuel economy, Tweet says.
The diesel model is now being field tested to assess emissions, fuel consumption, durability, reliability, power and safety under a wide variety of environmental and weather conditions. The tests are also looking at how B20-fueled vehicles stack up against their petroleum-diesel counterparts.
Funding for the B20 tests was provided by the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, AURI, and AURI’s Center for Producer-Owned Energy.
Arctic Cat expects to have the new diesel model available this summer. It’s aimed at markets around the globe “where diesel is the fuel of choice,” Tweet says. That includes Europe, where half of passenger vehicles and most off-road vehicles use diesel. Other prospective users are the military, which relies on diesel fuel, and American farmers and ranchers, who are increasingly using B5 and B20 in their farm machinery.
I WANT ONE OF THESE!!!!!! I think bomb would have their competition in the power department!

york, a member here and a dealer, has actually ridden one. A power maching it is not, but a workhorse it is. The diesel will come in handy for farmers who use an ATV for actual pulling and farm work. Like v2 quoted, It is also aimed at the Europian market, where over 50% of the auto's are diesels.

Polaris had a diesel Sportsman 500 class for a long time. Died a slow death. I'm not a farmer but I've talked with a few who would respond that a diesel isn't their first choice for winter chores and thats when they get the most use out of a atv machine. If anyone comes out with a diesel I'd buy one just for the novelty of it.

Let me put it to you this way.
Diesels= heavy.........heavy means slow compaired to light.
Turbo on a diesel = even more weight. (see above) and more problems.
If you think a diesel quad will take on anything above a 200cc gas, your going to be VERY dissapointed. I'm talking drag race here, not total torque.
When and if this thing comes out, I will be getting back to this post.

If it couldnt match bom, there is also rumor of AC building a new 800 Vtwin in their new plant in St Cloud, so we will have to see what that does. Also, nobody is concerned with speed in a utility most of the time, im talking about pulling power, and low end. That thing would pull an outty off of its almighty podium, and through the playground like a little girl
