Default 07' 650 H1 or 07' 500 Manuel and tires???

any arctic cat can handle 27" or 28" inch tires maybe even the ITP Mudlite XL 30" tires. Theres 10" of suspension travel that will never ever be used. my stockers were 26" Goodyear Rawhides and i upgraded to 27" ITP Mudlite XTRs and there is no problem and never will be. you have to remember for every inch bigger tire you add its actually only 1/2" closer to the fenders while the other 1/2" is giving you more ground clearance on the bottom. but 27" or 28" easy. 500 shouldnt have a problem w/ bigger tires either, same suspension travel and should have enough power to handle bigger tires. speedo is only knocked off like 2-3%.

Got a laugh out of how you edited the engine braking out of the quote.

When it comes to pulling, gear ratios figure in just as much as CCs and the 500 manual is geared like a tank.
If you are pulling a few hundred lbs and want to go 20-30 MPH, then an auto would be the way to go,
but a thousand or two at 5 MPH, it would be hard to beat 1st gear in a manual.
Maybe the H1 is different than the autos I have seen , but you usually can smell the belt getting hot when you work an auto hard.
Engine braking is as good as the manual, when in low.

Ride an H1, it will out pull the 500 manual in low speeds any day.

The only people that complain about burning belts are the ones that don't own an auto.

I have nothing against the manual, if that is what you like to drive then get it. It is just a preferance.
catterman, i've enjoyed reading your posts since i've started posting here.
i second that emotion on the engine braking, it may even be better than manual when put in low. no joke.
however about the burning belts thing, not that one time pulling a trailer is going to do the transmission in, but for towing on frequent occasion or heavy loads, i would be more inclined to trust a manual transmission. you will seriously impact the life of automatic tranny belt if towing is main purpose of the ute. manual transmissions in our four wheelers are bulletproof compared to the automatic. down time from trips to dealers is minimal.
still, if you ask me, i'd take the 650. i have that same engine in my brute and can vouch for it being a
beast
Thanks!

i just have one question though..wouldnt the bigger like 27-28" tires make your quad lose alotta power? casue i kno stock the H1 has 25" and the V2 has 26"..because very soon im most likly 95% sure im gettin an arctic cat but not sure which one yet lol like 75% sure ill be getting the H1(between the H1 and V2) but i just heard it robs some power the bigger tires you get because the first mod id be getting is tires most likly and then maybe wheels idk

I stayed with 26" tires, but still gained an inch more of clearance from the larger lugs. The H1 has a better gear for pulling in low. The V2 has more horsepower and is faster. Its a toss up for me, but i chose the V2 because it has more options to mod it, and i wanted a V-Twin.

i talked to the local dealer and if you add 1 or 2 inch taller tires youll lose around 2-3% power. no problem. i dont notice anything with my V2. speedometer is just off 3-5 MPH.
