Artic Cat 650 V2 - Oil expulsion at high speed
Hello,
since I am a french Canadian, it's possible that my english doesn't be perfect, so I'm sorry !
I just recently bought a 2005 Arctic Cat 650 V2 ATV. During the last week, I was riding on a forrest road at around 60 MPH. After while, let say 5 to 10 minutes, I realized that my right leg was wet. I though it was water at first but in fact, I realised that it was some oil. I stopped the engine at that moment. I cheched the oil level but it was ok. I was unable to see where it came from. Since I'm not really a mechanic, I decided to bring my ATV to the garage. 2 days after, they told me that this oil came from the air filter because the oil became probably to clear according to the high speed and heat.
Does it already happenned to some of you ? Do you think the mechanic opinion at my garage is right ?
Thanks for your help !!
Chris

Artic Cat 650 V2 - Oil expulsion at high speed
I had the same issue occur with my '04 650 V2 last fall. I was running pretty hard up in the Colorado mountains and had oil on the right side of the engine and right pant leg.
My dealer said it is not uncommon as the oil is actually blowby from the airbox. There is a little drain nipple in the bottom of the airbox that lets excess blowby drain out. When pushing hard for a while, it accumulates and drains out of the hole. If you check the bottom of your airbox, you will probably find it wetter than normal after some hard high speed riding.
This is the only time I have ever experienced the oily situation but is also the only time I have ever ridden it ***** to the walls for an extended time.
Just make sure your oil level is normal and don't worry about the leakage if riding hard. Now if it happens when not riding hard, you have something that needs looking in to.
