Default Error code on 2007 650 H1?

I purchased a new 2007 Arctic Cat 650 H1 two weeks ago and I now have approximately ten hours on the bike. My wife was dragging off her arena yesterday, when an "E" appeared on the display, indicating a "no-shift position error" according to the manual. She parked the bike until I got home. An "E" is now displayed on the display in both high and low gear and the bike is cutting out under accelaration, as if the rpm limiter that exists in reverse is now functioning in the forward gears. I'm taking it in to be serviced today, but can anyone tell me what would cause this problem. Thanks.

As an aside, has anybody had any trouble with slippage of the V-belt in the CVT...I realize every major manufacturer has moved to this technology, save Honda, but I am tired of hearing I should have bought a Honda. Also, will it really be neccessary to drain transmission cover everytime I ride through water, as suggested by the drain plug, or is this a precaution that is neccessary only after the most extreme conditions, ie: floating the bike through a river. Any comments or insight would be appreciated.

first off welcom!! and no you shouldent drain the cover every time but you will want to make sure if you do alot of water or mud you might check it often but no worries with the auto trans they are tough as nails. im not sure what to do with the e code mabey unhook the battery cable and see if it resets?

Thanks for the info trvman. Good to know you haven't had any problems with the transmission. I'll also see if disconnecting the battery will reboot the system.

I have no clue on the "E"

For your belt question, it is as good as gold. The only way that belt is going to get wet is if you get water through your intake. Which is close to your handle bars. Even if it sits in 2.5 feet of water for a day it isn't going to get wet.

I feel a lot safer with my Arctic Cat tranny then I do my HOnda one!

Thanks Catterman,

Glad you responded...you seem to be the AC go too man...I'm putting it in the shop this afternoon. I'll be sure to post what the problem turns out to be. Also, again I'm glad to hear that the transmissions are solid.

Just an update...If anyone encounters the "E" coming up on their display, unplug the shift position sensor and reconnect. The shift position sensor is located behind the rubber air intake boot on the right side of the bike. If you pull that boot, you will see the sensor plug starring you in the face. This has cleared up my problem. The dealer said it may have been loose from the factory.
