Default Need arctic cat 400 4x4 rear axel bearing help

I just bought a 03 AC 400 4x4 auto, it only has 300 miles and is in great shape, we noticed while jacked up we could move the right rear wheel in and out about a 1/4", just like a car wheel with the nut loose that holds the wheel bearing in. Can the nut on the axel with the cotter pin in it be tightened to remove this free motion? Also is this a left hand thread? If this can't be done how do we tighten it up? Thanks for any help.

Yes you can, but first you need to make sure the bearing isn't toast already. I torque figure is 40 ft/lbs.

The bearing was full of dirt and I figure it had worn down the inner race giving it a up/down slop. So I changed it out and it is all good now. thanks

That's good but the nut should be torqued to 75 ft/lbs as some moron can't seem to read a spec sheet. Did you look closely at the seals and the surfaces the seal runs on. If there are score marks or the seal lips are torn or hard, they should be replaced. Or the new bearing will soon follow the old one.
