Start in gear 2000 300 4x4

Start in gear 2000 300 4x4
This is for a friend we bought our atvs the same day. He has a problem with his start in gear option his bike is a manuel and they are set up so that when you have brake handle in the bike can start in gear,but his only works now and then can you tell us where to start. Thanks for all your help.

Start in gear 2000 300 4x4
If it will start when the foot break is on then it is in the handle. This happened to my 2004 400. I never bothered to fix it though.
