You always pose some sort of risk with a mod like a lift, or bigger tires. You put more stress on axles, drivetrain, belt, shocks, tranny, ect......

Default lift kits?

I put a Moose lift kit on my 2001 250 (same frame, trans and drive train) 3 years ago and have had no drive train problems since (well I did loose a wheel bearing but it had water in the bearing). Got almost 2" of lift for $80. Bigger diameter tires is not a good idea with the 300 or the 250 (or the 400 for that matter, just not enough motor). The bigger tires change the overall gear ratio the wrong way and hurt performance (both acceleration and top speed) a lot. Wider tires do not do this.

I am not sure if they make them for a 250 but, my TRV and my 400 AC gained some height. Not sure exactly how much but probably 1-2inches from replacing the stock spings with HD springs from Highlifter.

They also stiffened up the suspension for carrying heavy loads. Might be a cheaper way of getting ground clearance with out installing a lift kit.
