Hello all im a new member here looks like a very interersting forum maybe some 1 can help. My friend and I was out riding the other day and his 2001 ac 500 went into some sort of limp mode. The overheating light came on and he saw something what looked like coolant come out now it was quite cool the day we were out, high 40s the cooling fan came on after he shut it off and restarted but it wouldnt go any faster then 10 mph the problem started after he went thru a puddle. The next day it started up and ran fine but he hasnt rode it for long to see if the problem reoccurs any ideas? thanks in advance

There is no limp mode in those suckers, he probably over heated and then it lost power. Sounds like his radiator is plugged up, might have to take it off and clean it, I am sure it could use some new coolent too. Is it auto or manual???

 

its a a 4x4 auto what kind of coolant can be use with it? ill probably over his house this weekend working on it with him

 

Just regular coolent will do. Maybe check the belt too, if you are taking things apart.

 

Make sure coolant is safe for aluminum radiators. Almost all are nowadays but check to be sure.
