Guys you are overlooking 1 basic component. 4 wheelers as a whole will never be able to tow more than 1050, due to weight of vehicle to weight of item towed. 2ndly there are no atv tires currently on the market that are rated to carry much more of a load than that. Look at the tire ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are a low psi tire. Thats why there are things called tractors....

I would try one if they would slap a turbo on it and double the hp and tq. That would just be cool to have a Turbo diesel quad. But V2 is right, way to slow the way it is. And the producion numbers will be so low there will not likely be any chance of the aftermarket jumping on board to make a turbo for it.

We are an Arctic Cat dealer, got two diesels in today. I only ran it for a minute (cold outside), but i was very disappointed in the machine. It felt like it has little to no throttle response and top speed up a small incline on pavement was 33mph, i hit 38mph going down the same hill. Ive had several customers come in and drive it, all have been disappointed in the power and have complained about it being too noisy (of course, it is a diesel). Overall, i think it was a waste of ACs time, and for me personally, ive got two $9000 atvs to unload now. And yes, the ATV is rated to tow 1,050, but i dont honestly know how AC or the industry determines that number....could be just a low number for liability reasons, it might move my building if i hooked it up....

jmc555, It's not what you can haul, its what Insurance companies state is safe. I would like to see you take that load down a steep grade! It wouldn't happen because that 900-1000 pound machine (thats with you on it, full tank of fuel and oil)with those little brakes, wouldn't be able to hold it back. It would run you and your machine over, don't believe me try it, try stopping a rolling load with that weight on a steep grade. There are many factors as why they put this limit on this machine. Sure they can move enormous loads, on flat and level ground, but can they stop those loads at speed to avoid a collision or going down hill. All you need to do is think a little bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Originally posted by v2rider: I now officially have lost all interest in the new diesel arctic cat. It sounds like a big "oops" in terms of consumer ratings
I have to agree, if I was buying it for myself however; if I was buying a wheeler to be used by one of my workers, this is what I would want. It's slow enough that a young or inexperienced rider has less chance to hurt themselves, yet can tow and carry a good load. The diesel should last a long time, and get decent fuel savings. I see this machine as strictly all work and no play.
