Piute Trail Tires ???
#2
I know that when we went to Colorado last summer we used the stock 489s and they worked great. I would think for hard packed, rock, and most trail riding the stock 489 tires are a pretty good tire. I did not even try using the 589s due to the rocks.
We have not been to the Paiute trail yet. However from what I have been told it has similar riding conditions as Colorado.
We are planing a trip to the Paiute trail in the near future.

Probably don't want to run your paddles, any thing else that will hold air and are round will work. Some of the riding is on hard pack, some on steep rocky, and yes there is some loose DUSTY dirt, with an ocassional creek crossing to top things off. I have ridden quite a lot of the trail system around Fillmore and Richfield.

I have the stock 489's on my 300 and 500 and didn't see any shortcomings of this tire on the sections of the Piute trail that I have been on. I see no need to purchase new tires for this trail. The sections I have been on have had a lot of lava rock and aren't the nicest on tires. I think it would be a waste to buy new tires only to tear them up. I have only been on the sections through the Fishlake Forest area and haven't had any traction concerns.
