Carb issues on 2001 Artic Cat 250
#1
I just bought a nice Artic Cat 250 this past week, it's practically brand new but the guy who I bought it from jacked up the carb. The choke cable was broken with a bolt stuck in the carburetor, the vacuum lines where missing and the screws for the bowl were stripped out. Where can I get a complete used carb that works or parts for a better price than the dealer asks? Their prices are pathetic, although I still might have to buy some parts from them. Also, I looked over this thing and can't find where the two vacuum lines go. Could someone direct me in the right direction on the vacuum lines? Thanks!

Most likely there is only one vacumn line...the other is a vent.
Look at the gas tank shutoff valve...is there a pri position? If so, then its a vacumn operated valve, and the vacumn line goes there.
You could look at the parts finder for A/C, there should be a few online, and it should show the routings. Or you could get a service manual..i know they have them cheap on ebay.
Which is also a good place to find a carb for it. Im not positive...but ill bet the carb off a old 250 suzuki 4x4 quadrunner, is the same carb. You may have to keep an eye out for a couple of weeks, there isnt always one for sale, but they do show up, and they should be cheap.

I believe AC also has a used parts department at their Theif River Falls plant? Not sure how to contact them though?
Since the machine is pretty much useless with out a functioning, reliable carb it may be worth the $ to bute the bullet and buy a new one.

Here in the Seattle area we have an outfit called Bent Bike. They are a cycle wrecking place. They also do ATV's. You might check your phone book or try google or whatever search engine bites you best.

There are two vent hoses on the top of the carb, the hose go over to the right seat grommet and stick in underside of where seat fits.

I found a place that sells new Mikuni carbs for Artic Cat ATV's for under $200.00, Their business name is Pat's small engine Plus. Anyone heard of them? They have a little of everything a whole lot cheaper than the dealer. I think I might go ahead and order all the parts I need from them. What's the model number for the carb on a 2001 250? I don't have it here in front of me so if anyone knows then I could go ahead and place the order, if not then I'll wait till tonight. Thanks for all the help!
