06 arctic cat 500 won't idle when cold
i have a 06 arctic cat 500 tbx. in the short time i have had it i have encountered several problems. the first problem i encounted was the composition of the plastic that the dump box is made of, it cracks and breaks way to easy in my opinion for a utility machine. the second problem i had was the throttle housing would get water in it and then the water would run down the throttle cable and freeze. i think i fixed that by drilling a drain hole in the housing just under where the cable comes in. the third problem i have is the beads of the tires seem to allow dirt and mud to pack under the bead giving the tires a slow leak. i got a plow with my machine, but the pins for the quick change feature were too short and my blade would come off with just straight pushing of snow. i wielded longer pins on the blade atttchments. my current problem is my machine starts in the cold, but the auto choke loads the engine up and i have to turn the idle way up for 15 min before the choke comes off. it has been at the dealer for over a month and they have other machines with the same motor 05 and 06's with the same problem and they have no idea what the problem is, they have changed the stator, and the carbs, and still the problem is there. so i ask if any one has the same auto choke problems as the dealer says AC says they have never seen this problem before. i am glad and thankfull i have a polaris to be able to plow snow with.

thank you for your input, but my machine will not idle long enough to warm up so it will not die every time i stop. i have to turn up the idle up to 2000 just to keep it running till it warms up, which is even after the cooling fan kicks on. like i said it has been at the dealer for over a month. along with others with the same problem.

What's your pilot screw set at. It sounds like it is set too rich also. It still sounds like an auto choke heater is not working and the engine heat is what is warming up the choke heater to shut off the primer system. You are aware that there isn't a true choke system, but an enrichener system on the engine?
