Help, rear end on my 300 is leaking
#1
When I went out to plow today I noticed some grease/oil leaking out of the rear end of my 98 300 4x4.
Its leaking just past the rubber boot. Not the boot near the tire, it's up the shaft nearer the rear end.
Is this something I need to fix right now? Can I do it myself?

I did a little research and I think its the cv boot that's leaking. Are cv boots filled with grease? I drove around a little and its not making any noise, or grinding. Maybe I can just replace the boot?

yes there is grease in the cv boot. yes the grease will leak out if there is a hole in the boot. if it is a liquid , i would saspect the rear end fluid is leaking, maybe not though. if its a boot its pretty simple to repare. time consuming though for the first time.

I believe there is, or used to be, a "how to" section with pictures and instructions on the Arcticchat.com site. I think the CV-boot was one of them.
