must not be that bad brad, you have 3 cats and 1 is newer than the 03, i believe you will always get 1 bad apple out of the bunch, its not a perfect world, if it were, we wouldnt have this forum to ask questions or get advice from other ppl

I see this post was brought back to life from a while back. Arctic Cat makes a very good , durable atv AND sled , IMO. I havnt had any real issues with them at all.

For the most part - yes, you may get a lemon once in a while - not much different than any other offerings.
Bottom line - people break machines - from misuse and abuse. You beat on anything then there is a good chance it will break. If people drove them more like they owned them and less like they stole them, then possibly they would have less issues.
My observation is that the ones with the most issues are trying to take the machine out of its element or design and trying to push the envelope with them.
Put large 26-27 and taller aggressive tires - dugh! more stress on entire driveline - something is going to give. Not just limited to tire mods but other mods also. If you have a 500 and want to go faster then get a 650... Trick out a 500 and sure, you probably will have problems.
I broke an axle, wasn't the machines fault. I changed tires and have aggressive tires - I hammered down on it in low range - the tires hooked up good and wham - broke an axle. Not the machines fault. Stock tires probably would have just spun.

"I don't know if you all have seen the AC commercial on the ATV magazine CH
So anyone else seen this tv commercial? Is this true that Arctic Cat now makes this tough of a quad now?"

I just got a new cat 700 efi, I rolled end for end going about 50 km, I bent the front bumper, maybe half an inch, never repaired it, and everything works perfect still, a friend of mine has a 650, they bounced it off a trailor on the highway and as far as the story goes it wasn't hurt, it is a heavier quad than some, but in my experience it's pretty tough

My 02 500i has been rock solid with five years of farm work and hauling firewood. I don't abuse it, but I do fill a trailer with 600+ pounds of firewood and haul it a mile over a rocky, hilly trail. Several times every weekend in the fall and winter.

Broke both rear axles, but it was my fault. Didn't actually break them, popped the nuts off of the end. Got a log stuck between the rear wheels with a full trailer behind, thought I'd just hammer it and power my way out - the log pressing sideways on the tires was just too much, especially with the loaded trailer behind. Should have unhooked the trailer first. My bad - I'm surprised the Cat has held up hauling all those heavy trailers.

I'll be buying a new quad sometime soon. No point in looking at any other brand, AC has been good to me.
