04 650 V2...How much oil?
#1
I've lost my owners manual and I need to change my oil, I don't remember how many quarts it takes with a filter...I thought 3 but want to make sure...Thanks
Never mind, I found the information. 2.17 Quarts with a filter, so that's about 2 1/8 I guess.

I did the oil change and started out at 1.75 quarts and went from there...all the way up to about 2 1/8 quarts. I did use a little bit larger filter than it calls for but not much larger, maybe a 1/4 inch which to me would equal less than an 1/8 quart on that small diameter filter. The oil still wasn't to the "H" (Full) on the dipstick, and yes I'm screwing the stick all the way in.

To much oil, are you letting it sit for 10-20 minutes after stoping to check, if not it just hasn't all drained back. If it took more than 2 qts there would be 3 qts in a v2 oil change kit pure and simple. They are not going to under fill it and cause possible engine damage. By overfilling you are running up the oil pressure and you could end up with blown seals or gaskets.

Well here's the deal, the ATV has been sitting overnight and the level on the dipstick is STILL below the full mark, you can do whatever you want with that information. The only indication I have as to how much oil the engine wants is the dipstick and it says all is well.
Here's what the 2004 650 V-2 service manual says;
"Install the engine drain plug and tighten to 2.0
kg-m (14.5 ft-lb). Pour 2.05 L (2.17 U.S. qt) of the
recommended oil in the filler hole. Install the oil
level stick/filler plug"
