Default Not Charging Correctly

On my 2004 A/c 500 I am only getting 12 volts at the battery with the machine running and 11.5 with the lights on. the Stator is putting out the 60ac volts and I am suspecting the regulator. the test for the regulator are all ohm test and I am having huge trouble getting a reading. Any thoughts? The harnees was replaced 1 year ago and I just rebuilt the line from the stator to the regulator due to corrosion. Other than 1200 for a new harness I am willing to try anything!
Thanks in advance,

Chris

How good condition is your battery (these things only last 2 or 3 years). The lights run directly off the battery. All ATV's are run from a magneto and the 'RPM break point' is around 2000rpm, which means if your engine is running slower than 2000 rpm then it is not charging the battery.
Check the acid level in your battery and put it on a slow charge over night and see if that makes any difference.

New battery 3 months ago and trickle charged for 24 hours. battery is at 12 until the machine is on with the lights on. I am still thinking regulator. the book is confusing on testing the ohms. Can you not just test the voltage of the regulator?
