Default 2006 500 AUTO VS. 650H1

I am considering trading my 06 500 auto for a 07 650H1. How much increase in power will there be? I see alot of problems on this forum with the H1's. I was wondering what the opinions of H1 owners would be about reliablity and power? Does the H1 have the power to wheelie?

Thanks

There are a few issues with the 650. Some have mentioned heating problems and clutch related issues. As far a breaking things, I think common sense is the key here. There is more power and if you abuse it or push it to its limit something will break. When you put oversized tires with tons of traction and you have plenty of power then what ever is in between the power and traction is going to be stressed.

Yes they will do wheelies. Your 500 will do wheelies. Maybe a clutch kit that allows 500 more rpm before engaging would be the key.

The H1 has a ton of twist, so much that a heavy throttle in the wrong place will break parts. I haven't heard of too many heating problems, and the ones that I have heard of have been plugged rads because of all the mud riding. The H1 will be my next bike, no question.

I've ridden an H1 and they they require plenty of body english to do decent wheelies. Basically the 650 is a lot like the 500, same power placement, just more of it.

The only problem I've seen with the H1 is that the header pipe bolts like to vibrate out. My buddy has replaced them twice, other than that it has been awesome. It has lots of low end grunt and is a great worker. It starts awesome with the automatic choke, and has been a great machine. Same duramatic tranny as the 500, no complaints there.
