Can any cat owners out there let me know if they have any problems with their machines? I am considering buying one this year and am not sure based on some problems my riding partner has had. Thanks in advance

SOPAW,
I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS TO SPEAK OF, MAYBE A FEW SQUEAKS EVERY NOW AND THEN, BUT WHAT U.S. MADE PRODUCT DOESN'T. I COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH MY AC, BUY ONE AND YOU'LL SEE.

Thanks for the input Texascat. I have been reading a ton of posts on the forums and have decided that my friend may have just got a problem machine. He has had to replace all of his ball joints, and do some work on the top end as it was loading up with oil. We did manage to repair his front end when the ball joints let go on 2 separate occasions with some wire to get the machine back to camp. The worst part was we were on vacation and lost 4 days of riding, waiting for the dealer to bring in the parts

I don't own an AC, but all I've heard about them is outstanding! They sound to me like one of the best built quads you can buy. I know I wouldn't hestitate to buy one. That is if I didn't already have a quad.

I bent a tie rod, but in the situation, any quad would have done the same. Other than that, nothing that I can really find that has ever gone wrong in two years. It rattles a lot. Basically the way they have interlocking plastic thats not really bolted down in enough places, but thats really not a reliability thing. Arctic Cats seem to be all that I though they would when I bought it. Very tough.

Well I have had a few problems, but you can look at my pictures for a VERY small sample of my rought riding.

I've had the fan's thermostate go out(no long on Arctic Cats), this caused my bike to over heat and the overheating caused the waterpump seal to go out.

I've had my rear end power go out completely cause I had a single bearing go out. I later found water in my rear end so that was part of the cause, then the jumping that I do with my cat didn't help.

I've also had my bike completely quite on me cause of a few wires that corrodid from all the rack deep mud riding I do. The carb was also full of mud too.

NOw I will be haveing to replace my front wheel bearings, but this is a combination of my HARDCORE mud riding, jumping, wheel spacers, and 27x12x12 Tri-claws up front.

Overall I don't think this is a lot if you consider my riding style. I'm probaly the roughest Arctic Cat owner here so I expect to have the most problems, so that can be expected.

Lata, Happy New Year.

I have a 500 manual shift with 700 plus miles. The only problem i have had are the disc brakes squeeking when your just putting slow. I found a cure for this myself. If something happened to my ac i would buy it again.

What did you do to get rid of the brake squeaks?
Mine does the same thing. Just an annoying noise.

I love my cat. Haven't got many miles on it yet. I just got it in Nov and there is so much snow here, all I can do with it is plow snow.
Starts very easily even on very cold days.
Only problem I've had so far is with the reverse indicator coming on when it's in neutral. Can't wait for spring and some big mud holes.........

I just purchased a new 400 Cat in sept. and am very pleased with the machine. I did a lot of research before the purchase because the Honda 400 that I owned at the time was so dependable.
So I took the plunge and went for the Cat.
WOW what a fine desision I made.

I own a 2001 500 auto. I had a minor problem with my winch switch that the dealer replaced the same day. Also a seal (cup seal) leaked oil into my tranny and caused belt to slip and loss of power to wheels. Still waiting for parts (new year long weekend) but dealer says they will replace ALL seals and "O rings" in motor. The dealer says that AC says this has happened before and are aware of the problem. Has anyone heard of this before?

Other than these 2 problems the AC is awsome. I love my AC and wouldn't change it for anything.
