AC 90 governor
#11
WOW!!!!!!!! A 5 year old reading this message board to figure out how to load a gun and shoot it. I also have a five year old and I constantly have to tell him "stay off of the atv board so you dont read how to load and shoot that gun". To start with I totally disagree with you. I asked a simple question that did not require you to judge me or try to keep me or my child safe. I am an adult and have been for quite a while now. I think I am perfectly capable of handling the safety of my children. I just saw on the news that a child was injured in a car wreck. You had better not let your children ride in cars. I will be sure not to post how to start and drive a car on this site in case there are any inquisitive 5 year olds reading.

Well at 12 years old and having been riding for 6 years I think he is ready to travel faster than 15mph. This is the second 90 he has had. The first, a polaris, only had the throttle screw that would allow him to travel WITH ME at a higher speed. The artic cat also has an internal governor that works in addition to the throttle screw. I think I am capable of judging how I let my child ride. He is safe, responsible and only rides when I am with him.</end quote></div>
You didn't mention anything when you first made the post. No one can tell if you are an adult or not - could be a 12-14 year old thats gonna make the mod for a little brother without the parents knowing. Some parents don't even know what their kids are riding and that is fact. From my end I would rather play it on the safe side. There are a lot of kids on here that ask a lot of questions about mods.
And since you keep up with the news I am sure that you are aware that some kids blew up a school and hurt a lot of people and they got the instructions of how to build a bomb from an irresponsible adult on the Internet. I am sure you are capable of handling the safety of your children but isn't it comforting to you to know that maybe there are other responsible people also watching out for the safety of your kids, and are not going to irresponsibly and freely hand out information until they are sure that it is getting into the appropriate hands.
You can make fun and discount it, but you would be surprised what some 5 and 6 year olds can read and where they can end up on the Internet. Ever think why there are adjustments with your web browser to be able to block sites with certain content. With that said - have a good day.

I am glad that you are a responsible adult and watch over your kids. I see that you waited until he was 12 and had some good riding experience. Why didn't you modify his ride last year or the year before - because as the adult you determined when he was ready - that is appropriate and good. However, what would have stopped him from coming on here at age 10 or 11 and getting the information and making the mod himself without your approval - and what if he happened to get hurt as a result, what then? You'd be saying where did he get that information, how did he learn to do that.

Actually I did make the mod a couple of years ago, but that was on the Polaris. We just got the AC and I made him ride it for a couple of weeks to get used to the new unit before trying to take the screw out. Unfortunately that did not do what we needed.
I certainly do not mind having someone else try to ensure my kids' safety, however you came across as a real smart a$$ with your "even if I did know I would not tell you" comment.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$, just lacked better choice of words at that moment and thought you were some kid. Maybe a better choice of words would have been "Even if I did know I don't believe I would post it at this time", maybe I should have left that line out all together. Anyway sorry!

Well anyway 4wheelingdawg, welcome to the AC forum.
Be sure to stick around I am sure Chumley and I will have round #5 someday. I don't think that we really hate each other, I think we just like to pretend that we do so that we can dump on each other... lol..

And this is exactly why I hound buck about what he says. New guy comes on the site, gets ripped on and gets an immediate bad taste from the site.

Exactly why if you aren't answering his question(or something else relative to the topic) you don't post. It's not always what you say, buck, it's how you say it.

I actually enjoy the site. Just found it last night while doing a general search for removing the governor. Sorry to give you guys an avenue for round 4 and 5. Where are you guys from? I live in central Georgia. We ride quite a bit on private land around here, but always make a couple of trips a year to Windrock in TN.

LOL round 4 and 5, actually I don't get as upset with him as it seems, he likes to rattle my cage and sometimes I have to chuckle to myself and give it back to him... lol.. Like I said if it were not for me he wouldn't have anyone to bitch about.
There is some good stuff in here and some good knowledgeable people to help out if you need it.
I am from Maine (God's Country) as they call it. Chumley is an alien from parts unkown but claims MN as home... hehehe.. Did anyone mention round #6... lol..
