I rolled my Cat over and it runs poorly now. It was a controlled roll over. Nothing visual broke. However, now it sputters, backfires, and only runs well when it is in neutral. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, tech

a controlled rollover? well how long was it upside down? did you turn the fuel off untill you could flip it back? it wasnt in water or nothing?

ridnMT,
Thanks I will check the plugs. They probably need to be changed anyway.
thundercat,
What I meant by controlled is that I couldn't prevent it from happening. I jumped off, stood on the down side of it, and held on to it as it slowly rolled upside down. It was on it's back for about 2 to 3 mins. Unfortunately, I didn't shut the fuel off. It was on the side of a dry hill. Not in water. It seams to run the same way it did when I had to change the popped belt and didn't clear the belt setting. Like it's being governed. Kind of hard to explain. Nothing that I can tell broke.

I was told that it might be the tilt relay under the seat near the tail light. Your thoughts???? Thanks for the input. I'm trying to get it running for the holiday.

I have a 2005 650 that the same thing happened. i had oil in my oil filter and it was sputtering pretty bad. I have not even cleaned the filter other then to just shake it out but it sputters when the air filter cover is not on tight. If you put it on and clip it tight it should work fine. Try it and let me know! thanks

Fellow enthusiasts,
I figured it out. Strangely enough, when it rolled over the thumb choke control bent and the already rusty top section of the cable got stuck in a slightly choked position. Unbelievable. After I disconnected the top section, the two bottom sections (twin carbs) retracted to the normal at rest position and the trouble cleared. I want to let everyone know how grateful I am for the support I received. Keep up the good work guys. Sincerely, tech.
