I used a tester to test ignition wires when key is on. The red black wire is hot only when key is on. However, when I connect the red wire from the winch controls, the winch does not work. I can take the red wire back to a solenoid (not winch solenoid) and the winch works. I cannot figure out why it will not work connected to red black wire. Anyone else use the red black wire?

 

Ok I got it figured out. The red and black wire is the correct wire to use. In the instructions for the Gorilla winch that came witht he winch, the wiring of the solenoid was incorrect. If you are wiring one up, make sure to get the instructions from their website. Just make sure you put the correct wire to the correct color coded bolt. I hate it when you get instructions that are wrong. Don't those things get noticed??
