Default Steering Stabilizer for the 400

folks, I did a lot of searching on here for steering stabilizer/dampner options. It seems many recommend the Denton, however, I don't see an application for my model. Can the Denton's fit many models? Does anyone have one already on there bike that can tell me how they installed it, which model they bought and how well it holds up on rough terrain?

many thanks

Well, there are a few things a stabilizer would help with, but the biggest being to take some of the stress off my arms and wrists in rough terrain. I really don't understand why they don't come stock with one.

your stockers are the main reason you fight the atv so much. i ditched the stockers and went with the itp mudlites i hate the tire but in general an after market tire will make a world of difference. i know its sucks to spend that much cash on tires after just buying a machine but if your atv if following ruts and bumps that badly id have the alignment checked. the only time my handbars jerk are if i catch a stump or rock on the trail side. but ive never had anyone complain that they needed a stabilizer.???? but who knows you may be on to something maybe it will make a world of difference.

I ride very rocky terrain and it would be great help to have something help hold it straight. Most of my day is spent navigating large rocks. We keep a pretty good pace over the medium stuff. Beats the crap out of my arms and wrists. I have it on my motocross bike and my streetbike. It makes a world of difference in the handling.

Denton makes them for several of the racing models. I bet one of these could be used as long as the steering stem is the right size.

Call them and see if you could modify it some if its not a fit for the 400. Sometimes its just a minor reason it wont fit on your application. And just a side tip,,,beware of what Rango726 tells you,,he modifies stuff and ends up on Country fried home videos on CMT as the redneck that got flung into the pond because he cut off apart he shouldnt have,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Try putting a little extra air in the front tires. I run about 7-8lbs with 6 ply tires. A lot less fighting and a lot easier to steer. Plus it will cut down on the 'roll-under' of the sidewalls from spirited riding. Also you may try bringing your 'tow-out' closer to "0". I believe I have 1/16" or less of toe-out. If you have "toe-in" it may want to dart on you under certain situations.
