96 bearcat regulator/rectifier melting
Has anyone out there ever seen the regulator get so hot that it melted all the plastic in the vicinity? Almost caught fire. I was close to water and drenched it. I unpluged the connector and I still made it back to the truck. Will running it without the regulator do long term damage? Thanks

K runnin' without the regulator isn't a GOOD IDEA.. to get from point A.-B. shouldn't hurt. (I Believe) however yes they are needed! cause they convert AC voltage from the stator to DC voltage. which keeps your batt. charged, lights runnin' machine runnin' etc.. possible problems. got reg. wet, or stator too much output ac voltage most likely wet problem. or BAD CONN. can also cause Problems. find out which you have? also one HELP fix for water is WD-40 spray on all electrical components. wires, modules, ETC........ Dennis (hope this might be Helpful!!)
