noisy 650 v2
Iboogde, There are some good AC models I dont beleave the v2 is one of them, If you do get the v2 have some one check the cam chain tensioner on the rear cylinder and the compresion of the rear cylinder. My cousin is not the only person I know that have had huge problems with the big bore AC. I would have it checked out by a mechanic if I wanted it. There is no call for calling people idiots.

The only time AC had trouble with the V2 was with the belt. That was fixed in 06 models with a gear change. It is just as reliable as the next machine. People have to do research before getting a "word of mouth" opinion from someone and blabbing about how bad the atv is. I can find something wrong with every brand that will make them all a piece of crap that is unreliable.

And as for myself ? just do a search on cam chains or cam chain tensioner and you will see all the people that are having problems with theirs, some were lucky enough to get a new motor or the chain done under warranty, what about those people that weren't LUCKY ENOUGH to have them go under warranty.

I'm not sure where you get the "AC won't stand behind their v2" theory. I've had warrant work done on mine, so obviously they do stand behind it. What AC doesn't stand behind is intentional misuse, was that the issue? Swamping the machine can lead to all kinds of nasty problems.
You specifically mentioned the filter sucked dirt in, now if that doesn't sound like an aftermarket filter I don't know what does. Just a shot in the dark here, but I'd say your cousin did some aftermarket work and managed to screw something up. Yeah....that's something AC doesn't cover.
