Default Frozen throttle question

had left the 05 500 4X4 auto outside last night. I have no way to store it inside right now. we had 5 degrees this am.

no play in the throttle so I adjusted the idle way up after starting and let it idle for quite a while. also turned the hand warmers to high.

after 30 minutes or so still no throttle. so I added a tarp and ceramic heaters for another hour. still nothing. starts up but... is it froze up by the carb or in the thumb area?

any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Default Frozen throttle question

i would think it is in the cale. if your have it running and grip heaters on that should thaw the lever and the carb. try disconnecting the cable at the carb and see if the lever works, if not disconect the cable from the lever and see if the lever works, should be able to pinpoint where the issue is.

like i said the carb should be warm so idoubt that its the cause but the grip heaters may not be getting the lever warm so you could take the cable and lever off the machine and bring it in the house to warm up, just a thought.

if you have any other issue that needs to be fixed on it and you were thinking of taking it to a shopto have it fixed now would be a good time to do so. let it thaw out in their shop

Default Frozen throttle question

in about -10 weather my choke was sticking on a 2003 400. i had to choke it with my hand and let it warm up. For somne reason the residual moisture in the cable sheath and near the carb seem to freeze. i let it run for a while and stayed away from water for a while and it seened to dry out. On other vehicles i found that if you thave down time you can take off the cables and put either tri flow or wd 40 or liquid wrench T4 down and let it run down the sheath it will keep out the moisture from between the sheath and the cable
