Can anyone give me some advice about upgrading tires and wheels? I have a 2005 400 4x4 with 25" tires. I would like to go to 27" tires. Can I do this without any power problems?</end quote></div>
Keep in mind that your handling will get worse with taller tires also. Just like a car with lower profile tires - they handle better. What you give up may not be worth the extra inch of GC. You already have about 12 inches of GC the extra inch probably won't make much difference but only a couple times a year - is that worth poorer handling 100% of the time.... Just food for thought.
Taller tires will also make it more tippy and more prone to rolling over - and believe me they do roll over.
Maybe a tire change with more aggressive tread pattern may suit you. My tires have 1 inch tread depth (25") and are aggressive and I do not have a problem at all.
You will also loose usable traction by not being able to get low enough on gearing, plus more than likely will loose top speed. Your lowest gear will be more like being in second gear (almost like loosing low range) and the engine won't be strong enough to give the grunt pull that you may need on occasion - it may bog down and just about stall, plus the engine probably won't be strong enough to reach the limiter with the taller tires - thus loss of top speed.
