I'm still lost as to why these other brands still produce carburated engine when EFI is avaible and compatable with any motor. . . this is were Arctic cat has it's edge. . .
All there 2009 snowmobiles are EFI 2 stroke and 4 stroke the 120cc up to the 1100cc. . . there ATV's only offer EFI on the 700 and 1000 but the carbed units are all electric choked so it dose it all automaticly so you just turn the key may as well be EFI. . . some sleds are pull start battery less machines and they still have EFI on them. . .
From what i saw give it just a little time and AC is going to be the Leader of both tracked and wheel rec vehicles. . .

it's a cost thing. Carbs are cheaper (at least that's what they say) and smaller displacement quads are sold on a price point. It's why some motorcycles still have carbs despite EFI dominating the market on higher end bikes. To add EFI would drive up the cost, which is the entire point of the 400-500cc machines- to be a less expensive alternative to the big bores with the bells and whistles.
A second point is that it's something to differentiate the models. The high end, and big bore models are supposed to be 'better' than the others, so the manufacturers must keep some difference in them. Several 500's share the exact same motor as the big bores (only a change in bore or stroke) and if they also offer the diff locks, power steering, etc- then there is essentially no difference in the machines being offered at different price ranges.
Carbs are just part and parcel of a marketing ploy.

I'm sure the carb's are much cheaper ! ! ! But they all have manual chokes AC's carbed unit are auto choked now so its as easy to operate as EFI. . .
Automobiles have ahd this technology for 20 or 30 year's before EFI AC was the only one so far using it on ther carbed unit's. . .
Out of all the 20 and 30 and even 40 year sleds you see still riden out on the trails every winter 96% are AC's. . . My 76 Jag sat in a barn for 10+ year with half tank of rotten fuel fired and ran perfect in half a pull. . .I had a many 1970's AC sleds if a would have the money instead of the Rubie i would have a T-Cat1000 right now. . .Don''t the I'll get my T-cat1000 Atv and the Z1 turbo single seater sled. . .soon enough
950EFI Hemi V-tiwn quad and 1100EFI turbo charged sled.
Cat fan forever !
