Irichard,
The 1998 500 4x4 has 885 miles on it, and it has the Warn 2000 winch installed.

They have indicated that they will move somewhat on the price, but no indications of how much. I specifically asked because I would have to travel 400 miles just to have a look at it. At the price of gasoline and the gas mileage of a pickup, you can't afford to make that trip twice!

If that 1998 500 is in good shape that would be an excellent buy.
Like I said I put my 1998 through it and never had anything go wrong with it. I do heavy pulling in mud, and snow plow lots of snow with a 60" Moose plow. Ask them how often they change their oil also. I change mine every 200 to 300 miles, and it stays fairly clean. That is also low mileage for that year model. Ask about the fenders, brakes, tires, etc. Its sounds like everything should be ok.
I think it would be worth the trip to look at.
Good luck!

Tell them that you are seriously interested and see if they might mail or email you some closeup pictures of it. The mileage is really good, and if the quad is in good shape, thats a real good price.

The only thing other than the seat and the tires is the start in gear. Thats it. If I was getting picky though, maybe the shape of the floorboards is just a bit different (was on the 454) and the inside of the speedometer might say ARTCO instead of ARCTIC CAT.

I will say this, my cousin's 454 gas guage is different than mine. Mine has more gas when its says you are empty, and his is empty when it says its empty.
