need to soften my ride
#1
Hello, new here but have been reading your post for a while, OK, I know cats have a stiff ride but mine 07 500 auto with 26" terrscross XD the rest is stock bounces bad on rocky trails, all my springs are on softF 6 psi R 5psi
road a 700efi same springs and shocks it was a softer ride. theres nothing broke or bent on mine. I'm an old fart a need a softer ride!! Ideas? after market? buckaroo50??

26" ride rougher than 25". My Friend had 26" Mudwitch tires with 1-1/8th" lugs on his 660 Grizzly and it rode rough, once he changed to 25" Mudlites ATs with 3/4" lugs it rode smooth once again.
The 26" tires where so stiff that you could not tell if one of the tires had no air pressure at all because it still stood like the others with air. LOL
If you read this 500 ATV comparison the 07 AC500 should have a above averge plush ride over other ATVs.
500 Comparison.
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>The suspension is calibrated for comfort. With the long travel design, its plush</end quote></div>
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>That same plush, long-travel suspension that is a detriment to performance trail riding is a benefit when dealing with rough, technical terrain.</end quote></div>
If your not happy with the AC 500's comfort than there well be no ATV made that will make you happy.

I've also got an '01 500i that is also rides way too stiff for my liking. My friend's 300 soaks up the bumps on the mountain trails we ride on, while mine will lift a tire going over the smallest of rocks. It seems like the springs/shocks are always riding near the end of their travel even though they are adjusted to the lowest setting.
His also has noticeably better traction even though it has less power although that could be the difference in tires.
I'd gladly give up a couple inches of ground clearance to get a lower center of gravity too.
Any thoughts on softening the ride or lowering the CG?
