Default Carb (need help)

i have gas leaking from the float drain bowl. i have done the following and still leaking.

1. cleaned the carb and checked float level and needle(checked fine)
2. cleaned the carb again rechecked everything and put in line filter on
3. replaced the float bowl drain screw.

still leaking just when not running. turn off the fuel valve and it stops.

anymore opinions or just turn off valve when not running.

thanks

did you check if the float was any good or not? hold it underwater for a few seconds then take you hand away, see if ther is any water inside the float

If the fuel is leaking out the drain tube at the bottom of the float bowl then the screw is not seated all the way. If it is flowing out a weep hole on the side of the carborator then the float is sticking open for some reason. (bad float, faulty needle seat or needle or some junk stuck in it) It could also be leaking from around the seal on the float bowl.

Also, be careful to not let it leak into the cylinder because if your intake valve is open slightly then fuel can run into the cylinder, around the rings and mix with the engine oil. This can cause engine damage if you are not careful.

it is leaking from the nipple that you attach a tube to on the bottom of the bowl. took it all a part last night around 9 pm.
did not start leaking again till around 3 pm today.

The only way for fuel to still be coming out of that float drain is 1) the screw is open 2) your float is not shutting off 3) your float needle is shot

Soound slike you have a very slow leak which would explain why it takes a while to leak out.

If the is a visible discolored ring at the tip of your float needle, it needs replaced.
The float arms should be parallel to the float body (will get you close enough)
Also the metal plunger on top of the float needle that the float tab rides on wear out over time, and will not be as long as it use to be which will cause a leak, a slow leak.
Same goes for the float tab, that sits on top of the plunger on the float needle, it will wear out (smoothen the punch out) and cause it to leak slow to.
