#1
I have a friend with a 250 AC 2x4 who has torn 2 boots. My question is there a topic about the cv boots somewhere on the forum but I can't seem to find it, it discussed using auto/car boots due to being tougher. CAN SOMEONE HELP???????? Thanks.

Tellicocat,
At the top right hand corner (if using netscape) should be the words (among others) "Register", "FAQ", and "Search".
If you click on "Search" and fill in the blanks you should come up with all the posts concerning the cv boot.
Hope this helps.

I replaced my cv boots with after market automotive boots much cheaper and more durable. The part # that worked was CVB216 available at most auto parts stores. The boots original application fits: honda, mazda, izuzu and chrysler products.

My advice to anyone with a 250 or 300 would be to invest in the rear cv boot guards from AC. They were just $3 bucks more than one AC boot kit. It only took replacing one for me.
I ended up getting another stick stuck in the rear a-arms on the same side I just replaced. If I hadn't put the guards on, that boot would have lasted a total of 5 miles!
I don't know what it is about the design of the 250 and 300, but they grab more sticks than I could ever imagine.
When I get the time, I'm gonna make some extra metal skid pans. I added on the rear plastic skid section from AC, but it just isn't enough in my opinion to keep you from cracking the motor case if you really get with a rock. It took a good lick this past weekend and held up well so it did its job.
