Default Problems running dvx 400

hey, i have a 2004 dvx 400 and recently ive had troubles with it running ...it started one day when my tank was between empty and a quarter...it wouldnt stay going in neutral and when it did it kept dying when i changed the gears or let off the gas ... so i filled up the tank and it seemed to get rid of the problem ...the same thing happened again when i got low on gas... not empty. so i filled the tank again and it got rid of the problem for about 30 minutes and it happened again this time with a full tank ...im thinking theres dirt or water in my tank and in the fuel lines??? neeed help

Sounds like you have some gunk in your tank and/or the carborator. I would shut the fuel shutof valve off and disconnect the fuel line from the carb. Then remove the fuel tank and empty it and flush the fuel lines with carb cleaner. Make sure to check the pickup srcreen in the bottom of the tank.

Then I would remove the Carb and take the float bowl off. Spray it real good with carb cleaner and make sure to get every hole and jet. Blow it out with some compressed air and put the carb back together, install it and try again with fresh fuel. You may even want to add a fuel additive like Seafoam to each tank to help keep this from happening again.

Also, do not forget to check your fuel vent hose to make sure it is not plugged. I have cleared up som eissues like you have mentioned (temporarily) by running a high concentration of Seafoam through the carb. IT cleaned it but it did eventually need to be removed and cleaned.
