I went w/the .28 gap on my NGK CR6E in my 650H1 w/NP.

It did come pre-gapped at that setting - I double checked w/my gap tester/setter.

AC 500 engine should have a NGK CR6E plug with a gap of 0.7-0.8mm (0.028-0.032 in)

They might come "pre-gapped" correctly but I believe that is just freak accident. I always check to to be sure.

I use to run a hotter plug in the winter but I don't remember if it was a CR5E or a CR7E ( I think is was the 5E). It did cold starting (30-40 below or colder mush better but really ran hot if I tried to use it year around. I think the engine is worn enough now that I don't notice it.

Also, if you take and get an extra plug take a small piece of 3/4 in or 1 inch ID water pipe. The black stuff similar to PEX piping. Cut a chunk about 4-5 inches long and cut a slot in it lengthwise. Then gap your new plug correctly, place it in the piece of pipe and put some duct tape around it to make sure it stays closed. The plug should stay clean and protected and you can throw it in the glove box on the ATV and have it in case an emergency comes along.

thx swampy thata is a good idea. i replace the spark plug this am 0100 (i work nights and am on my off day) i was looking how to put in extra one somewhere. there is a "socket that comes with the tool kit which comes with the cat. is that okay to remove the plug in a emergency?? i used a socket which seemed to have less slop or play if u want to call it that when removing the plag comepared to the tool that come with the cat.

also, does anyone know how tight the plug should be i dont want to strip the threads lol i put the plug on this am but not sure how to tell if i need to tighten anymore or if it okay where its at thx for info.

yes the socket/tool given to you is fine to use. when tightening it down just snug it down and dont forget to use antiseize. you only need a small amount.

I've NEVER used any anti-seize product for sparkplugs & I've been "twisting" wrench's in the backyard for over 28 yrs.......? Unless it's an aluminum engine trick I haven't heard about.

Tighten till snug - then 1/2 a turn. Never had a problem. And they all back out w/NP.

New to me.

I have never used anti-seize ona plug? As long as it has the little compression seal washer still onthe plug. Tighten it the way Cups71 said....no problems.

Anti-seize may burn slightly and put off a bad odor. although it is high-temp I have used it on exhaust bolts and it burns off. PLug is exposed to similar amount of heat.
