arctic cat 300 4x4 2001
I have an 2001 artic cat 300 4x4 it has been stalling out and not restarting if you let it set it will restart. I have cleaned the air filter and replaced the spark plug. I have even replaced the fuel on off valve thinking it was clogged after I have done all this and it ran good for an hour in the mountians but it acted up again. I take this ATV way back in the mountains and I am afraid it wiil let me set one night. I never had a problem before do you have any suggestions

It could be electrical problem as crzrlou stated above but i would pull the carb and give it a good cleaning first because i owned a 1993 Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ that was doing the same thing you cat is doing ( The 1993 Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ is the same machine as your 2001 Arctic cat 300 4x4 ) , the problem on my 93' Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ 4x4 was dirt/trash in the tank to the carb ; my late cousin was the original owner of the 300 KQ and it did this same thing with him 2 times ( he took it to the Dealership both times and it was dirt/trash both times ) Suzuki covered it under warrany the first time and charged him $100 the second time !
I bought the KQ after my cousin passed away in the summer of 1999 from his sister , and it started doing the same thing when i was riding with my brother riding the KQ and me on my 1986 Honda TRX350FM Foreman 4x4 ; the first 2 times the KQ stalled on my brother we let it sit a few minutes and it would start and run a few miles then stall again .
The third time it stalled we couldn't get it to restart even after waiting an hour it was still wouldn't restart , so i towed him the last 5 miles to the parking lot loaded up and went home ; the next day i started checking it out to find it had dirt in the carb bowl while i was cleaning the fuel system out i pulled the fuel tank and the petcock for a good cleaning !
I flushed out the fuel tank , replaced the fuel hose , installed a clear fuel filter between the tank petcock and carb , dismantled the carb and gave it a good cleaning ; while i had the quad apart i checked and adjusted the valves put it back together and didn't have a problem ( sold it to my brother in Nov. 2005 ) a week after i bought my 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS 4x4 Auto !
It only takes a single grain of dirt/sand or debris to cause the carb float/needle to stick onen or closed , so i would try cleaning the fuel system first before taking it to a DealerShip a very costly $$$ bill ; whatever you deside to do i would get a good O.E.M. Factory Service and Repair Shop Manual it will pay for itself with just the first full servicing of you quad !
