I've got an 03 250 that will only stay running if you hold down the starter button. As soon as you release the start button, it dies. I have looked over the wiring harness all the way from the battery to the key switch and starter button, and there are no signs of severed/chewed wires, and all the connections are intact. The only thing I saw was the little ground wire that comes off the main ground cable at the engine, and connects behind the air box above the vehicle information sticker looked like it had gotten hot (insulation cooked). The battery is bad, and I need to replace it. A bad battery wouldn't cause this would it? If anyone has a wiring diagram the could post up would help me try to find a starting point so I can isolate/diagnose the problem.
