Default 2006 Arctic Cat 700

I found a very low miles 2006 Arctic Cat 700 forsale.
Before I shell out the money, I want to ask Arctic Cat owners to see if this machine is worth buying, in your honest opinion (no brand bashing here). Reliability is the most important issue. Does it start hard in warm/cold temps? Is this machine EFI? Ease of maintenance, any clutch/machanical/electrical issue?

I will be using it for trail riding/hunting/fishing, etc...

Thanks,
kevin

Ive got a 2008 700 with 750 miles currently on it. The bike has been flawless for me,no problems so far. The 700's are "EFI". I live at 500 ft in elevation and i took it out west up to 10,000 ft. and the bike never ran out of power. Did awsome in 14" of snow, but i have bigger tires too. I haven't heard of any issues with them other than factory batteries. The display will flash "efi" or "volt". Of course these are 2 yrs apart and i think the 2006 model was the first 700 they made,so it may have had other first year issues. It should start right up cold or hot. If it dont then the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) could be off a little. mine was when i got it. There is a way to check it if you need to know. Good luck.

Easy to tell if it is the suzuki engine other than the fact that I know it is lol, but if you wanna confirm then two things will tell the tale first the belt housing cover is plastic and secondly the rear differential fill plug will be on the left side of the diff instead of the right side!! Not sure if the 700's do but it may even say suzuki somewhere on the top of the engine!! But in 06 fact was that the only 700 engine arctic cat had was the suzuki engine it wasnt until 08 that they offered their own 700 engine and that quad in 08 was silver only so if this bike is an 06 then it is the king quad engine no doubt!!

I bought my first Arctic Cat on Feb. 7th 2006 and at that date AC only had the AC 400 FIS 4x4 , 500 FIS 4x4 , AC 650 H1 and the AC 650 V2 the was the biggest quad in the 2006 AC lineup ; the AC 700 FIS 4x4 was released at the end of the year and i think it was the Carb model .

On the 2006 model's the 400 and 500's were powered by Suzuki , the 650 H1 was the only engine made by Arctic Cat ; the 650 V2 was powered by Yamaha and AC replaced it with the 2007 AC 700 powered by Suzuki !

The AC 700 that was released by the end of 2006 was carb , the 2007 or 2008 the AC 700 EFI's were also powered with the Suzuki engine ; AC built a new engine plant in Theif River Fall's to build the 650 H1 and later the AC Thunder Cat 1000 950cc engine .

I hope this help's !

williebee, I went to the official arctic cat site and looked at the past models(2006) and it was said to have offered only efi in that year. If i remember correctly, the king quad 700 originally came out with a carb 700 in the previous year(s),but in 2006 they switched to EFI as well. Or suziki may have offered both for 2006. Not saying your totally wrong but ive never heard or seen a carb 700 cat. Maybe they did have a short order of 700 that were carb.

All Cat 700's were EFI, the 650-v-2 was a Kawasaki motor not a Yamaha, then AC started building thier motors starting with the 650H1, then the T-Cat 1000(950), then came the 700H1, 550, and so on.

The 2006 Suzuki KQ 700 and AC 700 Have the same motor. 2006 Arctic Cat 700 EFI 4x4 SE ATVs

or its a big coincidence there both 695cc with the same 102.0 mm x 85.0 mm Bore and Stroke.

I like the AC's large 6.5 gas tank!
