Default 2005 400i drive shaft problems

I was out today with some friend riding and got stuck in a mud hole. I noticed my front tires were not spinning and had to get pulled out. After i found the front boot on the front drive shaft split in two, and the front drive shaft slid out of the differential side. The first time this happened was a month ago the boot clamp came loose alowing the drive shaft to slide back and no 4 wheel drive. I slide the drive shaft back into the front diff, and put a new clamp on and it was fine untill now. So my question is the boot the only thing holding the drive shaft into the front dirrerential? It is hard to tell by the scamatics. What am i missing? Thanks in advanced. Only had this bike a few months practically new and so far broken actuator and this annoying front drive shaft problem.

There should be a little cir-clip on the end of the axle that holds it into the front differential. The CV joint slides back and forth a little thought.
