carlisle 489 titan tires
Just wondering what you guys think about these tires. some reviews say they puncture ********o easily. It says that it is a 6 ply tire. If you use these or know anyone who does would you suggest putting slime in******** them?
Better yet would you pay 15$ per tire for them? New? I have an arctic cat 500 2008.

I've only had it the swamp's once and i got stuck crossing a natual spring bed , my brother went through the same spot on my old 86' Honda TRX350D Foreman 4x4 with the straight axle front with double shock swing arm rear with no trouble ; he was about to winch me out but i put it in reverse and backed out with no problem .
Oh and btw the Foreman had Dunlop's that are better in the mud , the original tire's that came with the Foreman were a joke with 1/2" lug's on them ; with just a little over 20 hrs. on them they looked like slick's !
Robert i would buy 2 set's of the carlisle 489 titan's at $15.00 each they're $39.98 each at my local WalMart SuperCenter .

I still have the stock carlisle badlands on my 2006 AC 400 4x4 and as yet i haven't had a puncture or even had to add air to them since new , i live and ride in the mountain's of North Ga. and Signal Mt. TN ; no cactus or brambles where i ride but plenty of rock's and stick's !

The carlisle badlands on my 2006 AC 400 FIS 4x4 have held up fine for me on rocky trails , dirt or gravel roads/no paved rds they have a softer side wall than the 489 titans whitch are 6 ply tire's ; many members on the forums have complained about puncture from cactus and brambles and tire wallow in tight turns with some having the tire bead breaking loose from the rims !
I'm not as aggressive rider as alot of younger riders / the same riders complained of the AC's front supension nose diving in tight turns , most fixed the problem with air pressure change and tuning the front shocks ; the carlisle 489 titans have a thicker side wall so that should improve the ride in the tight turns .
For $15.00 or $39.98 each is a good price from where i'm located , the local Dealership's in my area get $69.99 for Dunlop 25"x10"x12" front and $89.99 25"x10"12" Rear , the GoodYear Rawhide Radial tire's cost even more from the Dealership's ; you can do better online i would try Dennis Kirk for aftermarket tire and wheels !

I don't know how they are on a heavier bike but they work great on my 300. They throw a lot of mud, sand and gravel in the air so don't follow too closely. We also do a lot of rock and boulder bashing and these tires hold up as well as any of the others do. For $15 you can't go wrong. As far as slime in the tires, in these parts you don't leave home without it and a punture repair kit.
One thing we do a lot of is play with various tire pressures for the type of terrain and style of driving we're doing and the six plies seem to hold up better at lower pressures. As you can see below, I run a variety of tires and these will get there no problem.
