I bought an 02 AC 500 manual 4x4 and the owner said the front seals needed replaced, which he provided me with 2 new oem seals. I pulled the axle out and removed the old seal. When I started putting the new seals on, it wont get past the 2nd lip.

Any special trick to it?


Have tried manually pushing, tapping with screw driver, and prying.
Need to order another new seal, since we bent one trying to install it.

 

Which front seals,the seal on the hub or on the differential? the seal on the front diff you can use a rubber mallet or set a small 2x4 piece flat(big enough to cover the seal) on the seal and tap it in. should be able to do the same on the hub.

 

put it in the freezer for 1 hr..it will go right in!!

 

BIG SOCKET that's the same diameter as the seal. Whack....errrr.....TAP away on that INSTEAD of the seal itself.
