Mine has been flawless so far (2000 miles) but it sure sounds lke you have a blown head gasket. I bought the 500 because I couldn't find anyone who could say a bad thing about it. Any chance your motor was over heated?

measure how much oil is in the engine I think it should be 2.2 quarts but check the manual. If you are low you can figure out how much. It sounds like the gasket seal failed from what you are saying.
The whitestuff is probably antifreeze. Also did you notice white smoke for awhile?
Good possibility you were running low for awhile and got to the point where the engine got hot and cooked the gasket.

Check your air cleaner and airbox I have read where dust will get into the motor and cause oil to burn. This could explain some things.

this is just some general info hope it helps

Suzuki 500cc engine is one of those legendary engine for reliabilty.. if you ask me i guess, i have seen tons of them go miles and miles beat to death with little work done to them. I knew a guy had like 4k miles on a suzuki VINSON the guy didn't change his oil once or ever clean the air filter... I am not making this up. I didnt believe him i checked the oil was soooo low and black and his airfilter was basically a giant dirt/dust pile..hell it wasnt even seated right the motor had been eating dirt for who knows how many miles LOL

i had a 500 with 5,000 miles on it at the time i sold it(2 yrs ago) and used it for all my mudding. I swamped it twice. filled the engine with dirty pond water and all i did was tip it on its back end to drain water out the exhaust, pull the plug and blew the water out of the cylinder, put new oil and plug in and it fired right up. I had to change the oil 8 more times to get all the water out though. Its still running without issues today. One of the best bikes i ever had, never had to work on it,other than the brake lever.

Back when my AC400 was new and had a whole lot less miles, I had an issue with condensation inside my engine as well and thought I had an antifreeze leak myself. Trouble was my 400 had an oil cooler NOT a radiator!

My oil would go in a greenish brown color (that was the color of the AC oil then) and 2-3 weeks later after about 400-500 miles I would change it and it would come out a light milky tan color. Not much but enough to make me think water? Trouble was it this was late fall and winter and I was not riding in water and the ATV was stored in a heated garage and I was just plowing snow and ice fishing with it.

What I discovered was my problem was caused by three things. One, a plugged crankcase vent tube which prevents gasses from leaving the top of the crankcase and being sucked into the air box. Two, being stored in a heated garage the engine was always warm inside. Three, by running it out side and not letting it run long enough to get up to temp and then shutting it off for a few hours outside. This allowed water to accumulate inside the engine.

So make sure you check your Crankcase vent tube and the little duck bill on the bottom of the air box. This way you know the engine can breather properly.

I will add that certain environmentally safe antifreeze solutions out there will eat the gaskets inside the engine if they are not used in a closed cooling system (the kind with a sealed overflow bottle). So if I were you and I was replacing the antifreeze then make sure you use a good quality glycol antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors that is safe for use with aluminum engines and mix it 50/50 with distilled water (or buy the premixed) as most tap water is not compatable with aluminum engines.

The AC dealer also sells a jug of the premixed stuff but you usually pay a little more $ for the AC name.

Have a Merry Christmas

Swampy
