ac500 auto. differential is it different then the rest?

I read the ac500 auto test and it says it has an exclusive front drive diff that is new for 2000 and when it is [engaged],transfers power to both front wheels. It also says uses a different mechanism other than cams. WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT! I could not find anything in the ac product literature . this test is in the atv connection reviews.

Well they said the same thing about the 2001 Arctic Cat 500 manual(which now shares the same front diff). I've heard that it works like ATVing.com said all the time, some of the time, and also that it never works if you lift a front tire. SO, I can't realy tell you because I have not rode any models with this front diff on them.

NEVER EVER listen to what a dealer says, he'll say what ever he thinks you want to hear. Also, Yam, Hon, they all advertize limited slip front diffs, & we all know what that means, UNLIMITED slip is what it should be called. The only 4wd's are Suz dif lock in 300's, Cat 300 optinal shall we say, & Pol electric lock as long as your spining?? OH ya maybe Kaw's new 650 veriable diff, anybody know how that one's going to work?

First of all, the transmission has nothing to do with the front differential on Arctic Cats. IF it works in low, it should work in high.
Another true 4wd system that was left off that actually does work is the Traxter's Vico-lok. The AC 500 is said to work just like this, but I'm gonna wait to se it for myself.
