I just bought this atv and needs a little work. first there was no speedo cluster in it so i bought one for 250 ad put it in. fist thing it does is belt thing flashes and speedo needle goes up and down about 6 or 8 times. i have tried a few things to reset but liight but no luck. also is there somethin that makes it run like **** when the belt light is tripped???

like a limp mode or somethin??

any help would be appreciated. thanks

 

dont know much about the 650 v twin(kawasaki motor) on the cats,but i do know that it does go into limp mode and i believe it needs to be reset. This will make it run badly as it keeps the rider from tearing the belt up and will allow you to get back to the truck.
i als dont know how to reset it,hopefully someone will chime in and help more. These v twin 650 were only made for i think 3 years and i have not heard a whole lot of good things about them. It seems like they always have trouble. i think they may even need to have a shim installed in the transmission or something like that. Sorry im not much help!!

 

ok well thanks for the info. yeah i'm pretty sure its in a limp mode. hope someone jumps in here is they know anything about resetting it!! lol that beast is just collecting dust in the garage!
