2003 AC 250 4x4
#1
I bought one new in '03 and added two of the optional Arctic Cat accessory kits: 1) speedometer and; 2) front differential linkage (allows 2x4 operation). Last week I found and bought another 2003 250 4x4 in like new condition and want to add the same options to it. AC no longer offers the kits according to my dealer. I'm going to buy the front diff linkage parts for the 300 model (300 model came from factory with this linkage) 'cause I'm 90% sure that they're the same. But I'm not sure how to source the correct speedometer parts. I've looked everywhere inclduding ebay. I found a speedo drive for a '300 but I'm not sure if it will fit. Could I use the speedo drive from a Suzuki model? I just don't know which one...Any help appreciated...Thanks!

You may find what you need at a Suzuki Dealership , the AC 250 and 300 were built by Suzuki for Arctic Cat up untill 2004 or 2005 in 2006 AC and Suzuki discontiued the the 250 and 300's with 4x4 !
The 2003 Arctic Cat 300 4x4 was idenical as the Suzuki LT4WD 300 King Quad 4x4 , Suzuki should have what you need ; they might not have it in stock but they should be able to order them for you about the speedometer part's the 1989 Suzuki LT4WD 250 Quadrunner was the same as the 300 only difference between the 250 and 300 KQ was the engine cylinder had a bigger bore and i think the carb was a few MM's over the 250 but they had the same engine platform as the 250 .
The other difference between the Suzuki 250 LT4WD QuadRunner and the Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ was the tire /wheel diameter , the 250 had 25x10x11 rear and 25x8x10 front ; the 300 KQ had 25x10x12 rear and 25x8x12 front .

I was on fleabay last night looking up parts to fix mine up and I saw one "new factory convertor kit for 4x4 to 2x4" for I think 45 bucks. Also saw several used speedo drive units and 300 stuff will bolt to a 250. Mine is actually a 04 250 with a 98 model 300 motor.

Thanks guys for the replies.. Rdeeno thanks for the heads up on the converter kit it is exactly what I needed! I bought it...
I think I can cobble together the speedometer parts but the most rare item is the speedo itself. I found one for a 2004 AC500 for $98 that looks about the same. I don't know if the "gear ratio" for each speedometer, based on tire OD/circumference is handled at the speedo drive gear or at the speedometer gauge. Not that I care if it's absolutely accurate but I'd like to get the right parts if possible. The hunt goes on......

I believe they are pretty much the same for given years, but, the front diff changed several times from 98 to 04/05 the last year they where built. I know my 98 is different from my 04. I believe the 98 actually has a diff lock where the 04 doesn't. And like Willebee said, these are Suzuki's (at least the motor and diffs are). What I generally do is go to one of the big online parts houses like AChouse or ACnation and compare the different years parts list.
