2006 - 500 fis 4x4 charging issue
Hi All,
having some electrical issues.... last year my dash was taken out by rain because of a seal leak. i had a battery issue also which i replaced with a new one. i determined that my regulator wasnt charging my battery so i replaced that also. i am still having charging issues and i wonder if it has anything to do with my dash being a problem. what happens with my dash is when i turn on the key it will light up....then the led display show for about 5 seconds then it goes blank, but it still has the back light on. could this be causing my charging issues????
thanks

ok an update or additional questions......
can someone tell me the output that the rectifier or regulator should be putting out at its cable ends??
I know if it is working correctly is should read 13.5 - 15 volts on the battery.
before the regulator the magneto/stator is showing at idle 40 ac volts and at higher rpms it goes to at least 60 ac volts
after the regulator at the wire ends I get a reading of 2.5 - 4 dc volts pending on idle or higher rpms.
thanks for advice....

can you by pass the wiring harness and hook your charging system directly to the battery? what i am thinking of doing is connecting to the dc side of the regulator bypassing the harness wires and hooking direct to see if there is a problem with my harness??
is this feasible? recommended?
any comments would be helpful
thanks,
