Default 98 AC 300 4x4 purchase

Hello everyone new member here
I am looking to purchase a 1998 arctic cat 300 4x4
this is what he stated to me :
nice shape runs but has a small issue maybe the carb
Starts spuddering after it warms up n shuts off sometimes but starts right back up

My question is I have seen a lot with the same issue everyon always say's clean Carb but I never see whether or not this cured the problem is it usually the Carb or is it something else
would hate it to be something expensive like a CDI
he is selling this ATV just over my max price range but the best looking one by far but will not have much extra cash to put into it
Thanks in advance

Here is a pic

Cleaning the card fixes most of the issues you've read. Gasoline varnishes over time and clogs the jets if they are not run often.

Will not be anything exspensive,CDIs are like light bulbs they work or they do not. Most likely a carb cleaning.

I have clean carbs on machines I though where running pretty good and they started up nicer after a carb cleaning.
Change the spark plug and clean the air filter while your at it.

Nice shape and AC uses reliable Suzuki motors in those. Same 280cc motor used in the 300 KQ for over 10 years. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...icle2=27&go=Go

My cat did the exact same thing and it was the spark plug.

You will be happy with the Rancher.

Just out of curiosity, what were they asking for the Arctic Cat? My father in law had a 300 4x4 AC for a little bit and it was a good machine. Wouldnt mind to have one myself.

$1050 didn't get to see it personally but body wise the arctic cat looks like it is in a little better condition but no extras
The Rancher is an 01 with 2000 Lb winch new titan xt489 tires ITP rims 1 1/2" lift (I just removed due to front axles clunking) & plow mount
