2008 500 thermostat?
#1
I went to the bass pro boat center and wanted to get some parts to change one was a thermostat, i figured that the stock one is getting old and why not fix it and change the antifreeze too. They told me it didn't have one. Is this correct, it sure doesn't sound like it. can i just use prestone antifreeze in it too? I have a few things that i want to do to it, one that i need to change is the actuator any one have the correct part number for these? thanks Robert

Yikes no has an answer on this. I look and some seem to have one the the guy at the service desk says that he thinks it was in open system like on his motorcycle? I see on the left side of the motor where the radiator hose goes to what looks like the therostat housing like in cars and trucks. Any ideas lol or has no one had a problem with them yet?

the thermostat should be on the head on the left side. look for the upper rad hose and follow it back to the motor. where it goes to the motor is where the t-stat is. two bolts hold the t-stat cover. why do you want to change out the t-stat? either they work or don't. if they go bad my local dealer tells everybody to pull it out and don't put a new one in. the local dealer says it is not needed. to check the t-stat all you need to do is to,, cold motor, open rad cap, look inside to view water level, crank motor and warm it up, keep looking inside rad to see if water starts flowing. it water starts flowing then t-stat is good. any good 50/50 mix of antifreeze will work. you do not need anything else.

You can test them by dropping it in a pot of hot water to see if it still opens.
Your year of ATV does not have a rad thermal senor is maybe what they meant. The ECM brain box handles that job now I think.
I guess you can run without a T-Stat may take longer to warm up the motor.
