2012 550 efi
So my buddy just bought 550 Cat, beautiful bike fully decked with rims and rubber even had a slip on pipe on it, only has 400kms on it. So here is the problem, previous owner claims there was a clutch kit added to the bike to compensate for the 26in tires with rims, now this being my buddys first bike he had nothing to compare the bike to so he didnt know how it should ride/feel. The bike has no power, its a dog just doesnt go very well at all. at a touch of the throttle it starts to move but give anymore throttle and not much else happens, the motor just doesnt seem to spin fast enough, in low range it feels like its in high (but less power).
I dont know if its the clutch or the EFI thats the problem but I feel bad for the guy, Im hoping someone here may have some insight on this.

tell him to watch the tach and see or hear if the engine is even revving up? with proper clutching, that thing oughta jerk a wheelie. lol. (ima cat lover). Sounds like a nice ride. if worse comes to worse, take it to the shop and get it fixed so he can enjoy it man. Did ya pull the cover and look at the belt? does it spit and sputter? Keep us posted man. thanx.

That sure sounds odd. Maybe the clutch kit is in wrong, EFI computer is taking a dump or some kind of rev limiter is acting up.
Does it even rev up in neutral?
Sounds like your motors lack of RPM is the problem.
Even with stock clutching my little 350 Grizzly handles 26" mud tires easily and it does not even have a low range option.
A 550 should not even have been or needed clutching over 26" tires.
