Default 2001 arctic cat 400 4x4

hello, i need some help please, when i got this arctic cat 400 4x4 green atv it did not run, so i went through it and pretty much replaced most of the parts trying to trouble shoot the problem, long story short,it was the timing chain ,it was broke, so i replaced it and you know what that consists of, but got it all back together , got her started like three times and i was leaking oil from the crank case side so replaced the gasket again and it stopped leaking but know it wont start, it turns over and almost starts and like back fired a couple times man it so close to starting and im stumped now, please help me out if ya can, thank you very much in advance,

if it was me and going from my experience I would suggest 2 things. the carb or the timing.

Just cleaning a carb may not help if it has worn parts. A carb kit plus a primer repair kit may solve your problems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARCTIC-CAT-ATV-250-300-375-400-500-CARBURETOR-CHOKE-PLUNGER-STARTER-KIT-/151202276463?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23345ba46f&vxp=mtr

is it bogging down? Maybe your timing is off? You just might need a carb kit. Maybe you need to bring it to a mechanic. If my son was not a mechanic, my bike would likely be in the shop. I am tearing the top end apart a little at a time because it is hard on the fingers at -30. I have no heat in my shop. I will replace the valve seals and rings. I was having some issues with smoking and overheating and found the valves were not set properly. The more I poke around, the more I find little stuff wrong and signs that whoever serviced this bike in the past absolutely did not know what they were doing. Therein are some reasons why mine was not really running right. I am also looking for a fan to install and help in the cooling dept.

Did you ever replace the gas or check the gas tank? Sometimes you just need another pair of eyes.

Good luck

Im not sure if the 2001 model is included but I know 2002 to 2006 have glued on flywheel magnets an if they come unglued it will changed the ignition timing,,I have had serveral 2002 to 2006 400 suzuki and 400 arctic cat which is the same engine on most...May want to take down to flywheel an look at the magnets an see if they all are spaced out the same distance if they have moved the suzuki flywheel is same part an save some money an make sure new flywheel has machined magnets into metal flywheel.....IF flywheel ok then get back with us here an we help with next step
