Default Rear hub nut thread on 454

It is very rarely that I work on Arctic Cats, we tend to get Hondas and Suzukis to fix, but have one in at the moment. The LH rear hub is loose, the nut is stripped, and the shaft thread is not good either. It is close to M16 x 1.5, but doesn't seem to be spot on. Does Arctic Cat use UNF threads as 5/8" x 18 will also be close?

Can you remove the one on the other side to check. As far as I know, everything on my 2001 and 2002 AC's is metric.

Yes, the LH hub removal was the last thing I did before knocking off work, I just wondered if anyone knew for certain. Most Arctic Cat dealers in the UK only sell Diesel models and getting parts and info for this one is difficult.

i think cat may use a cat only thread.. When i messed up the threads on my axle i could not find a tool the right pitch to fix it... Ended up having to just use a file for the repair

Can you count the number of threads in an inch? UNC 5/8= 11 tpi, UNF 5/8= 18 tpi and UNFF 5/8 is 24 tpi. But, I'd still be surprised if it wasn't metric, motor is Suzuki and the 454 was made in the 90's , seems way to new to be inch vs metric.

I took the other side off and it was M16 x 1.5, which is the same as Honda front hubs, so ran a die down the shaft and fitted a Honda nut. I found that the brakes require UNF spanners for the adjuster and bleed nipples though.
